How to become an animator?

So! you want to become an animator!!

Its very simple..

To become an animator, you have to stick on 3 basics

1. observe
2. Capture it on paper
3. Move it to digital

These 3 basic steps will make you a professional animator. This is my way of learning animation. Learning wont make sense here right!. May i say my way of experiencing animation. yeah that sounds good!. You should experience everything in animation,

First of all!!

Keep in mind

Animation is nothing but a series of images or objects that creates an illusion of movement.

underline the word ILLUSION

its actually not moving but it seems like it is moving.. so you just want to create an illusion of movement.

To create an illusion of movement, that is animation. you must know this most important point

Frame rate for animation is 24 frames/sec, 29 frames/sec etc

Basically we use 24 frames/sec

so to create a one second animation. you need 24 drawings.

First try to capture the key poses(or) drawings in a movemnent. For example

In the above picture, the character is trying to lift the Weight. These three are the keyposes of the action. In every action, try to get this key poses out from your observation, Then we have to fill the inbetween poses. This type of creating an animation is called pose to pose animation.

Types of Animation

Animation is an illusion, it can be created in many different ways. The three major type of animation which is so familiar are

1. Traditional Animation

Traditional animation is also known as cel animation. In this method frames are drawn by hand. Celluloid is a transparent paper where the drawings are drawn in different stages and captured by special camera called rostrum camera.

2. Stop motion Animation

Stop motion animation is created in a simple way using any object or character by photographing the sequence of images with slight changes and edited as a movie. 

3. Computer Animation

Today computer animation is used to create films, advertisements, educational contents and so on. These animations are created by latest technology softwares. Computer animation can be differentiated as 2D animation and 3D animation. I will post a new article about 2D and 3D animation in detail separately.

What is Animation?

It's not about Just cartoons.  Animation is an illusion of movement created by a series of static images. Animation can be created in many different ways. Starting from a flip book to a greatest animated film. Each has a same concept of creating an illusion of movement.

To create the illusion of movement, each drawing differs slightly one before it. The fundamental concept of animation revolves around the movement of frames (Images or drawings).

Types of Multimedia

Multimedia is divided into Linear and Non Linear categories. cinema and Television are called Linear categories whereas Games and Web Design are called Non - Linear Categories.
